Music Time Signaures
A quick lesson on time signatures! As the image shows, the top number refers to how many counts or beats are within a measure. The bottom number tells us what type of note is counted for one beat.
Both numbers can change! If the top number changes to 2, you have two counts per measure. If it’s 3, then you have three counts per measure. If the bottom number changes, it alters what note gets counted for one beat. For example, if the bottom note is 8, then an eighth note gets one count/beat. If it’s a 2 then a half note gets the beat. Happy counting!
