Here in Oregon City, I am so lucky to live only a couple of hours from the ocean! Without question, it is my most favorite place to relax. I find that I get overwhelmed by the beauty and variety of sounds - I can really appreciate how composers have been so inspired by the ocean! When I visit the coast, I can hear Ravel‘s Une Barque Sur L'Ocean and Chopin’s “Ocean” Etude when I walk the beach - which one depends on the day. Both are stunning works for the piano.
