#practicetips

One of my favorite practice tips! Some of the best musicians have stressed the importance of slow and relaxed practice. Liszt comes to mind as his teaching philosophy included this: "practice at the speed of no mistakes."

Practicing slow and accurately helps you learn your pieces faster and minimizes mistakes - because you are repeating correct playing over and over. You are controlling your practice and not letting the piece control you! This doesn’t mean you never play a piece at tempo, but just to practice at the speed you CAN play correctly and comfortably until you CAN play it at tempo.

Happy practicing!
